It was a slow first half ending with Lisbon leading 10-8 over St. Regis. The second half saw a much more aggressive Knight’s offense and a defense that continued to limit the Saints ability to score. The 36-17 effort was by 10 points from both Jackie Sovie and Emily Dishaw.

Stats to follow!

Congratulations to Jaclyn Moore for being the newest member to be inducted into the Lisbon Hardwood Club. Jaclyn scored her 1,000 career point on Saturday December, 18 2010 in the fourth quarter of a league win over Morristown. She joins her two sister, Jenn and Erin, and Heather Dority as the only girls to enter the Lisbon Hardwood Club. It has been an honor to be part of this great accomplishment.

Congratulations Jaclyn.

Game recap versus Heuvelton December 2, 2010

The Lisbon girls’ basketball team played last night in the opening round of the Chamberlain tournament at Madrid Waddington. The girls played Heuvelton in a nonleague game. I thought the girls did a nice job of making adjustments and playing with focus, purpose, patience, and intensity. These have been the areas of emphasis all preseason. Defensively we were active and forced turnovers, which lead to some easy hoops and extra possessions. Offensively we were patient for the most part and took good shots. We need to improve our foul shooting which was only 50 percent for the second game in a row. We also need to improve our defensive rebounding, it was a little sloppy at times, but overall not bad. It was a good nonleague win over a league opponent. Now the question becomes how will we handle the championship game on Friday. Madrid will apply much more ball pressure and it will be a test of our focus, intelligence, patience, and intensity. We have had the tendency to shy away from pressure and loose some focus and passion. Good teams need to meet these challenges and overcome adversity, so Friday will be a test to see where we are in our young season.

If you’re trying to achieve, there will be roadblocks. I’ve had them; everybody has had them. But obstacles don’t have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don’t turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it.
